Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer Get Married in a Private Ceremony

Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer are officially married. The couple exchanged vows in a small, private ceremony on Sunday, April 20, at their home in Los Angeles. Close friends and family were present, including actress Ashley Benson and her husband Brandon Davis.

The wedding was kept quiet, with many fans surprised by the news. A nearby Mexican restaurant helped maintain the couple’s privacy by announcing it would be closed for a “private event” throughout the weekend.

Photos from the event show Stewart and Meyer sharing a heartfelt moment while guests celebrated. The couple wore matching outfits—Stewart chose a gray mini skirt with a matching cardigan, while Meyer wore a similar monochrome look.

Stewart and Meyer went public with their relationship in October 2019 and got engaged in 2021. Stewart once shared in an interview with The Howard Stern Show that she dreamed of a simple, spontaneous wedding in Los Angeles. That wish is wonderfully reflected in this celebration.

The couple, who are known for maintaining a largely private relationship, have occasionally shared intimate moments with their fans. In 2023, Meyer posted a birthday wish in which she referred to Stewart as the “favorite Shrimp”.

Stewart and Meyer start a new chapter in their life together with this simple yet significant wedding.

The UAE: A Rising Retirement Destination

With more people choosing to make the United Arab Emirates their home after retirement, many consistent trends are coming to the fore on how the old are deciding to spend their time in the Emirates.

While some relocate to smaller, less expensive parts of the United Arab Emirates, others adopt what is known as a transnational style of retirement in which they travel a lot between their native country and the United Arab Emirates.

fireworks

According to a social policy teacher at the University of Edinburgh, Dr İdil Akıncı, benefitting from the new visa rules and internal movement are two commonly seen trends among retired people in the country.

“The ability for adult children working in the UAE to sponsor their aging parents has made it possible for some retirees to prolong their stay,” she said. Similarly, the introduction of long-term residency options like the Golden Visa has played a key role. Another approach is financial planning through internal relocation. Some families are choosing to move to other emirates where the cost of living is lower than in Dubai, allowing them to better manage savings and day-to-day expenses in retirement.”

Dr. İdil, who is a member of AlSerkal Arts Foundation’s residency program, looks at the questions about what it is like to grow old in Dubai and the wider United Arab Emirates. Studying families in this country since 2013, Dr İdil has seen a significant shift in how retirement and the home are thought about.

Real Estate choices

According to Talal Adill, Director of Sales and Marketing at Nouba Real Estate, the number of retired folks choosing to buy property in Dubai is increasing. “Retirees are naturally favoring places such as Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and Jumeirah Village Circle,” he said. “These areas offer the right mix of luxury, convenience, and affordability. What really matters to them is being close to good healthcare, parks, shopping, and having that community feel. Many also love the idea of smart home features and eco-friendly living, which makes day-to-day life easier and more sustainable.”

He added that to “stretch their finances,” many retirees are going for off-plan properties that come with longer payment plans. “It’s a practical way to get more value,” he said. “Areas like Al Furjan and Dubai South are super attractive because they offer good-quality homes at lower prices. Some retirees are also investing in rental properties to earn passive income, which adds an extra layer of financial comfort.”

Real estate agent Huma Ahmad said that community living was high in accordance with the wishes of retirees. “I have had two people in their 60s approach me just in the last month, looking to invest in property in the UAE,” she said.

“Many people prefer to move to Ras Al Khaimah or Sharjah, where the cost of living is slightly lower,” she added, noting, “They also like to go for communities where they can go on walks regularly and have major amenities at close distance.”

Challenges for the retired in Dubai

However, according to geriatric medicine practitioner Dr Rahul Deshmukh, one of the biggest troubles facing retirees is their particular healthcare needs.

Sharing about his friend who moved to the United Arab Emirates for his retirement, Dr. Rahul said he was “concerned about the fact that he lived in an area where access to advanced healthcare was not quick.”

Dr. Rahul shared his joy that the friend, who is in his 80s, “has been managing for the last year.”

He said that the biggest difficulty is health insurance costs. “They are expensive, and even with high premiums, they only cover the basics,” he said. “It would be a great idea if there were a system for long-term residents to be issued a health card that costs around Dh10-15,000 per year, which would provide them with medical coverage at public hospitals in Dubai.”

He added that with the number of people retiring in the United Arab Emirates, there was an opportunity for the country to be part of a global thing to make cities elder-friendly.

He went on to say that not all agencies cater to the needs of the old. Nouba Real Estate helped a few of his friends find elder-friendly living arrangements.

‘Adolescence,’ A TV Drama Exposes the Global Issue of Teenage Violence

TV drama “Adolescence” has taken the world by storm and captivated people around the world, providing what activists say is a rare chance to tackle the primarily hidden area of online misogyny and violence.

Since its release on Netflix last month on the 13th, more than 96 million people have seen the British four-episode show that starts with armed police raiding the residence of a terrified 13-year-old lad accused of murdering a young girl and ends with a raw display of the pain of his devastated family.

The action in between, with the hour-long episodes shot in a phenomenal single take, slowly destroys the initial shock that a child so young could carry out such a violent crime.

It depicts a toxic internet culture known casually as the manosphere, in which regular teenage male insecurities regarding attractiveness and romantic failure can develop into resentment and hatred of the fairer sex.

“There are people who will watch it and go, ‘But that boy couldn’t do that.’ The point is that a boy can do it,” says Susie McDonald, CEO of charity Tender, which educates children and young people on healthy relationships

Great Opportunity to Educate Children

“Suddenly, the possibility becomes normal, and so we begin to say, what on earth can we do to stop that from happening?”

The show is number one in Netflix’s global Top 10 and tops the charts in just about every country – from Bahrain to Brazil – for which the streaming giant provides data.

“Although on the surface it feels like it’s a very British production … actually, the themes that it’s dealing with: what our children are doing online, what they’re listening to … I think that’s as important in America, as it is India or as it is Australia,” movie critic Kaleem Aftab told a leading media outlet.

Portuguese police made a guide for parents to educate people about the hidden meaning of emojis used by young teens – a plot component in the series. The Sydney Morning Herald produced work on how to talk to young people more effectively than the parents of the boy in the show.

British law enforcement urged parents to look for indicators that their child may be being radicalized on the internet, using data showing 60 percent of referrals to its terrorism prevention system came from those who are aged 17 or under, to bring to light the scale of the wider issue.

Hit Home Hard In Downing Street

“Adolescence” reached the family of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who saw it with his teenage children.

“It hit home hard,” Starmer stated in a statement, backing a mechanism to make the show available to educational institutions across the country and promoting a national conversation on the issues it raises.

“This isn’t a challenge politicians can simply legislate for. Believe me, if I could pull a lever to solve it, I would.”

Matt Pinkett, an expert on masculinity and an educationist, described how the show had left him fizzing with teaching ideas but said it needed to be used in the right way to avoid further marginalizing young teens who are already at risk of radicalization. This drift towards potential violence needs to stop right now. If it is not, then it risks exporting American-style school shootings across the planet. That would have devastating consequences for everyone all over the world.

The show has created a great window of opportunity for campaigners, police, and educators who have been hoping for a general public ready to accept the hard truth that they do not know what their children are up to online and that they should not be left to their own devices.

“This is the start of something. What we need to do as an education profession is make sure that we take advantage of that,” says Pepe Di’Iasio, General Secretary of Britain’s Association of School and College Leaders.

McDonald revealed that Tender was partnering with Netflix to make materials teachers can try in schools, with script excerpts and clips from the show to encourage broader discussion.

“This (show) is not going to solve the problem, but it’s enabled everybody to notice that there is a problem,” she said.

Emirati film Mountain Boy to debut in GCC cinemas promoting local talent

The film is funded by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, which is a part of the Creative Media Authority. The Desert Rose Films and Fujairah Films joint venture on the feature film Mountain Boy will be available in cinemas all over the country on 17 April. The film will be produced by The Plot Pictures.

In honor of World Autism Month, which happens each year in April, the film will have its premiere in a special location in CinemaCity, in the capital, Abu Dhabi, on 15 April. This was done with all the cast and crew present, along with children and the staff of the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Special Education in Abu Dhabi, the location where the casting team found Naser Salah. The film is about Suhail, a young Emirati kid who has autism and escapes to the Fujairah Mountains. Fujairah Mountains after his dad did not want him, not knowing his determination.

With dozens of Emiratis working on it, this is a truly local movie.

Desiring to locate his mother’s family members in Abu Dhabi, Suhail makes the long and arduous journey with his new companion, Barakah, the Arabian Saluki, to find acceptance, family, and redemption. Mountain Boy shows that Emiratis are tough when things are stacked against them.

Mohamed Dobay, currently Director General of the Creative Media Authority, said: “As part of our ongoing effort to build an international creative environment that is thriving in Abu Dhabi, identifying and advocating for projects that incorporate Emirati stories made in the UAE with a skilled Emirati cast and crews – is an important lynchpin for our efforts. We are incredibly pleased to sponsor a film such as Mountain Boy, which showcases the amazing Emirati tradition and culture while shining a spotlight and challenging the perceptions of autism, and gaining a number of international awards in the process.”

The film was shot entirely in the UAE and at various places, including Samaliyah Island and the mangroves of the capital, Dibba Mountain located in Fujairah along with the Telal Hotel in Al Ain, Mountain Boy is a tribute to Emirati tradition, culture and talent. There were more than 32 UAE-based businesses that were part of the creation of the film, that was shot over a period of 35 days in 2023.

Female Led team

Nancy Paton, CEO and the leader of Desert Rose Films, stated: “More than 232 crew were part of this film, with 70% of the crew being female. It was vital for us to stay true to the concept of Michele Ziolkowski’s moving original novel by using as many Emirati performers and cast members as possible. We conducted several castings to identify the perfect person to play Suhail and nearly gave all hope when Naser Salah, as well as his twin sister Reem, auditioned. We knew immediately that we had our leading actors. To soundtrack the film, we hired an all-female Firdaus Orchestra, which is based in the UAE and was founded in the name of the Highness Reem Al Hashimy, the Minister of State for International Cooperation of the UAE.”

Zainab Shaheen, who directed Mountain Boy and is an alumnus of the Higher Colleges of Technology, stated: “As my feature film directorial debut, I am incredibly happy to be directing a film that showcases a lot of our nation’s talent, including the places and talent to the captivating story along with social commentary. Being able to tell such a compelling and compelling story in such a visually striking way has always fueled and fueled my love of film and directing. It’s something that will be a constant in me throughout my entire career.”

Pratiksha Shah, co-founder of The Plot Pictures, said: “As young, next-generation distributors, our aim is to share local (GCC) tales to the world at large. Mountain Boy is a testament to this vision by blending the essence of the region, a rich narrative, and a rich cultural heritage while also shedding light on the crucial issue of neurodiversity as well as the distinct particularities of those across the spectrum. We are grateful to have been the primary catalyst in connecting this powerful tale to the people who watch it.”

Mountain Boy is among 180 major productions sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission in recent times, gaining from the variety of its locations, its pool of skilled professionals with award-winning facilities, and cashback rewards.

Russell Brand and sexual assault

Russell Brand was slapped with rape and sexual assault.

Russell Brand is in deep trouble for rape, indecent assault, and sexually assaulting people between 1999 and 2005.

The case is about different women.

Brand has been questioned by the cops loads of times since an investigation by the Sunday Times and other news outlets got on his case back in October 2023

In a new video posted on X, he was defiant; Brand said: “What I never was, was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity.”

He added: “I’m now going to have the opportunity to defend these charges in court, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.”

In a short statement, the London Police said it had written to the actor to inform him that he was being charged with one case of rape, one of indecent assault, one of oral rape, and two more counts of sexual assault.

The force said it is alleged that:

  • In 1999 a woman was raped in the Bournemouth area.
  • In 2001, a woman was sexually assaulted in the Westminster neighborhood of London.
  • In 2004, a woman was forced to give him oral sex and sexually assaulted again in the Westminster neighborhood of London.
  • Between 2004 and 2005, a lady was sexually assaulted once more in the Westminster area of London.

Brand has been ordered to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on the 2nd of May, but he is thought to be in the United States.

In these situations, suspects are asked to come back on their own. If that does not work, then they can ask for an extradition.

In February, a civil case for “personal injury” and “sexual abuse” was lodged against Brand at the High Court in London by an anonymous woman, referred to in court documents as AGX.

Police Investigation into Forced Oral Sex

Jaswant Narwal from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “We have today authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Russell Brand with several sexual offenses.

“We carefully reviewed the evidence after a police investigation into allegations made following the broadcast of a Channel 4 documentary in September 2023.

“We have concluded that Russell Brand should be charged with offenses including rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault. These relate to reported non-recent offenses between 1999 and 2005 involving four women.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial. There must be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”

The London Police’s lead detective, Andy Furphy, who is heading the investigation, said: “The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers.

“The Met’s investigation remains open, and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police. A dedicated team of investigators is available via email at CIT@met.police.uk.

“Support is also available by contacting the independent charity, Rape Crisis at 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.”

Russell Brand is the first celebrity from the United Kingdom who has been accused of forced sex. This follows the legal battles of the Tate Brothers in the United Kingdom and Romania against Andrew and Tristan Tate.

What is different, though, is the forced oral sex accusation. Other cases have been vague as to what happened. In this case, the details have been revealed to the media.

Russell Brand has become an icon of sorts for the left with this podcast work, and fans are disappointed to see that he is just another Donald Trump in sheep’s clothing. Tolerance for bad and forced sexual encounters is at a historic low in the United Kingdom. The Russell Brand charges are very serious.

Also, he has a very liberal following, unlike the Tates or Trump, who did not lose followers after their sexual crimes. Trump won in 2016 despite the scandal of him with a pornstar. The Russell Brand forced oral sex case has everyone shocked.

It remains to be seen what will happen to these charges against Russell Brand. He is adamant that he is innocent. Then again, everyone is innocent until proven otherwise.

Australia soccer star Sam Kerr found not guilty of racially aggravated harassment of police officer

Sam Kerr was one of the top female soccer players in the world. She was found not guilty of racially aggravating harassment of a law enforcement officer on Tuesday.

Kerr, an Australian striker and English club Chelsea player, admitted that she had called Police Constable Stephen Lovell, “stupid” and “white”, during a heated discussion at a London police station following a night of partying in January 2023. However, she denied it was a criminal charge.

The verdict was reached after a jury of 12 members had deliberated for more than 4 hours on the 7th day of the trial, at Kingston Crown Court.

Kerr posted a statement on Instagram saying, “I can finally put behind me this difficult period after today’s not-guilty verdict.” “While I apologized for my poor expression on what was an extremely traumatic evening, it is important to note that I never intended to hurt or insult anyone. I am grateful that the jury unanimously agreed.”

The taxi driver claimed that Kerr and Kristie Mewis – a U.S. player for the English soccer team West Ham – were out drinking and refused to pay the clean up costs after a member of the couple became sick and smashed the rear window of the car.

Kerr claimed that she was “trapped” in the taxi and feared for her safety. She is accused of being abusive and insulting to Lovell, calling him “stupid” and “white”, at the police station. Kerr admitted regretting the way she had expressed herself, but denied calling Lovell a “white person” as an insult.

Sam Kerr, the soccer star who signed a contract extension with Chelsea… but only after teasing fans

Football Australia welcomed Kerr’s statements and said that it would speak to her about the incident.

Football Australia released a statement saying that it invests heavily to build the behavior standards and expectations for everyone involved in our game. This is especially true for our National Team players who have additional responsibilities both on and off the pitch. “(We will) reflect with Sam on the learnings from this incident and we will continue providing appropriate support for Sam moving forward.”

“Throughout this time, Football Australia has been committed to Sam, and will continue to support her as she concentrates on her footballing, rehab from injury, and return to playing.”

Kerr has been with Chelsea since 2019 and scored 99 goals over 128 matches. The London club is the English champion and top contender for Women’s Champions League.

She has not played since January 2024, when she sustained an ACL during a warm weather training camp in Morocco with Chelsea.

Kerr will return to Australia soon, just in time for a couple of international friendlies in April against South Korea as part of the AFC Asian Cup 2026 preparations.

ANDAM and WSN come together for Paris Fashion Week.

PARIS — Trade show organizers WSN and ANDAM are bringing a new partnership across their finish line to support new and up coming designers during Paris Fashion Week.

The two will pair on Run, a new model for newer brands which will be both a wholesale showroom and partially a runway fashion show space, under the control of WSN. Taking over the cavernous two-story former Habitat store on Place de la République, the Run space will also host a retail pop-up that will be open to the public.

“This project has been put on the table because what we have seen since many years now is that it is so, so difficult for young brands and highly creative brands to emerge,” said WSN chief executive officer Frédéric Maus. “The fashion industry is struggling for the moment…It’s so hard for them to be seen by the buyers. The buyers don’t take lots of risk. So we need to help them to gain this visibility and show their creativity to the world.”

ANDAM, the organization which is the brains of the annual fashion awards and mentorship program, is giving its expertise in brand management. The organization will bring on board 15 young labels. These include ATXV, Benmoyal, Pressiat, and Hugo Kriet.

WSN will organize the full-service showroom including a commercial support team to help the brands improve sales

The retail space will be organized by FShop, where brands can sell existing stock, as well as take pre-orders for upcoming collections.

WSN will also be taking up production for runway shows on their calendar. First said is Benmoyal, who will show on March 7 at 1 p.m. Organizers plan on adding up to three additional runway shows during the event, which will be open from March 7 to 10.

WSN organizes trade shows Premiere Classe and Matter & Shape, which coincide with Paris Fashion Week, as well as Who’s Next, Bijorhca, Curve Paris, and Interfilière Paris later in the year. Maus said that WSN will tap its extensive database of buyers from around the world to promote Run and try to gain “maximum visibility” for the brands involved.

The new project aims to build on WSN’s buyer expertise while also increasing its scope into show production. Maus said that newer brands have been hit hard by all aspects of the business, with the more conservative buying behavior on one side and escalating costs on the other, causing them trouble in the early stages.
